Kiwanis Club of Boardman-Youngstown History
- Founding Information: Chartered July 29, 1916, Kiwanis Club of Youngstown had met continuously at the Downtown YMCA for over 100 years.
- Community Impact: For 65 years, the Kiwanis Club of Youngstown held an Annual Radio Auction raising funds to help organizations serving kids, raising a combined $530,000 which was returned to non-profit organizations serving our community. The Kiwanis Club of Boardman has held the Memorial Day Celebration and Parade for over 50 years.
- Evolution of the Club: In 2022 we merged with the Kiwanis Club of Boardman to expand our community service and maximize our impact.
- Current Mission and Goals: Throughout the years our vision for serving children has never changed. The Eisenbraun Books for Kids Project is in honor of our member Tom Eisenbraun. It is funded by grants, fund raisers and individual donations. We provide books for students in Youngstown Elementary schools grades 1-5 each month of the school year.
We have now moved our location to the Elton Beard Cabin in Boardman Park and we meet second and fourth Fridays at 12 noon for lunch and a program. Speakers at our regular meetings keep members informed on cultural, political, business and social issues. Membership over the years and today includes local men and women who enjoy service and community involvement. Judges, legislators, professionals and business and service agency leaders, active retirees and community leaders and volunteers can all be found at Kiwanis meetings.
